8/28 Bumblee, Bumblebee

Activity Card: “Bumblebee Bumblebee”

During large group this week we are learning about everyone’s name! We also talked about action words and our “Bouncing Ball Sound” /B/. We sang “Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee” and then played a game to learn each other’s names. We passed around a stuffed bumblebee, patted our legs and chanted “Bumblebee, bumblebee will you say your name with me?” then whoever was holding the stuffed bumblebee would tell us his/her name (if they were nervous or needed some help, a teacher said their name with them).

If we had time, we played a game with the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It” by singing “If your name is ‘Amanda’ clap your hands. If your name is ‘Amanda’ clap your hands! If your name is Amanda, if your name is Amanda, if your name is Amanda, clap your hands!” Kids choose what action we got to do with the song.

  • Names (vocabulary)
  • Rhythm (pre-literacy skill)
  • Rhyming (pre-literacy skill)
